A Research on the Effects of a Group Art Therapy (Collage Activity) : A Case of Child-Care-Institution Heads¡® Job Satisfaction

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of the group art therapy program with collage activity on the job satisfaction of the heads or directors of child care institutions, in the way that improving the level of job satisfaction for the directors will in return enhance the quality of education in child care centers. Study subjects are twenty six directors of the child care facilities located in Pyeongtaek city of Gyeonggi province who were told about the study beforehand. The subjects were divided into the experimental group of thirteen and the control group of the other thirteen out of all twenty six participants. The collage group art therapy consists of a total of 10 sessions, twice a week, and each session lasting 90 minutes. To verify the effects of the therapy program, pretest and posttest of both job satisfaction test and KSD before and after the program. The comparison of pretest and posttest scores are analyzed by SPSS Window 12.0 in terms of paired t-test for the degree of significance of the program. The agreement test (Cronbach's alpha as interrater reliability) of two raters on pretest and posttest of KSD was adopted to avoid the rater error, then used as the data for assessment. Consequently, it can be said that group art therapy with collage is effective in enhancing the job satisfaction level of the heads of child care facilities.
